In the theater, there is the role of the Understudy. This is a person who learns another's role in order to be able to act as a replacement at short notice. These individuals will learn the responsibilities of the role not knowing if or when they will be called upon. Yet, they do what is required of them, making sure the audience is none the wiser because the SHOW MUST GO ON!

 If you have been offered the role of alternate or understudy for you team, understand just how vital this role is. For example, by being prepared to step up and step in at a moment’s notice saves valuable time and energy in practice. It allows for the team to prepare for a performance or competition with continued momentum and focus. This role also aids in your development as a dancer. Not just through performance, but by developing the much-needed skills of adapting and choreography recall.

 Focus on what is required of you as a team member and performer, so in the event your number is called, you are ready to shine!
